01 Singularity

Exponential progress and innovation will lead to a tipping point when machines exceed human intelligence.

Exponential progress and innovation (e.g. artificial intelligence, block-chain, robotics, bioinformatics, nanotech, virtual reality, big data) will lead to a tipping point when machines exceed human intelligence – this point in time is Singularity. It is expected to result in significant rates of change to the way we live and to the economy, and thus changes the way we need to think about investing.

Well-known futurist and Google engineer Ray Kurzweil (co-founder and chancellor of Singularity University) pegs the Singularity to take place as early as 2045 (and has said previously that machine intelligence will match humans’ by 2029). That’s two years before SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son’s prediction of 2047.

"Companies in the Singularity space don't need economic stimulus, their growth is not linked to GDP growth and politics, they grow exponentially by their very nature."
